8 weeks of microdosing psilocybin mushrooms + here is what happened…. - The Bare Haus

8 weeks of microdosing + here is what happened….

Microdosing is becoming super popular and after doing my first round I see why. The way it changed my mindset and allowed me to see ME made a huge impact in my personal life and career. Here are the benefits I experienced...

What is microdosing?

Microdosing is taking 1/10 of any psychedelic, in this case we are talking about psilocybin mushrooms. I have been taking .2 grams, the recommended amount is .1 to .3. I take them during the day usually because I like to connect with nature, but you can totally take them at night just know that if you take it too late you might have trouble going to bed.

Psychedelics work by mimicking serotonin. BYE negative thoughts 🖕🏽

One of psilocybin’s main effects is to stimulate a serotonin receptor called “5-HT2A” located in the prefrontal cortex, which leads to two important results:

  • The production of “Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor” (BDNF), a protein that is “like Miracle-Gro for your brain,” BDNF stimulates growth, connections, and activity.
  • The increased transmission of “glutamate,” a neurotransmitter responsible (in part) for important brain functions such as cognition, learning, and memory.

These two things together create an ideal space for transformation in mindset and in being.

Benefits of microdosing:

According to a study in the Harm Reduction Journal, the benefits of microdosing include:
  • Improved mood (26.6%) – Peacefulness, overall well-being, calmness, happiness, and a reduction in the symptoms of depression. This includes more emotional connection, a general sense of optimism, and an improved outlook on life.
  • Improved focus (14.8%) – Covers skill sets like the ability to focus or concentrate and enhanced self-awareness.
  • Creativity (12.9%) – Aside from a general sense of improved creativity, this also includes behaviors such as being more open, enhanced curiosity, ability to shift perspectives, and divergent thinking.
  • Self-efficacy (11.3%) – This applies to such behaviors as ambition, self-motivation, self-confidence, and a sense of agency. It also relates to improved mental health, including increased introspection, the practice of meditation, and other aspects of behaviors tied to self-care.
  • Improved energy (10.5%) – In this case, “energy” refers to things like mental stimulation, wakefulness, and alertness.
  • Social benefits (7.6%) – Outside of more engagement with others, this category also includes more empathy, a greater sense of connection, and more extroversion.
  • Cognitive benefits (5.8%) – When microdosing, users experience heightened mental clarity, better memory recall, and improved problem-solving ability.
  • Reduced anxiety (4.2%) – This applies to a reduction in both general and social anxiety
  • Physiological enhancement (3.0%) – Includes enhanced visual acuity, cardio endurance, reduction of migraines and headaches, and higher sleep quality.

Why did I take it?

I was intrigued because I found myself in and out of depression. My mood was constantly shit and it was affecting my work and my relationships.

I also was looking to expand my consciousness, I wanted to tap into my creativity in a new way. After doing a few full dose trips I saw how much they changed my life so I was like i have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I am also very big on using plant medicine to heal so this was right up my alley.

What did I get out of the experience?

1. My mood changed completely and it gave me the space to see the beauty in my life. Prior to taking them I felt like I had a bunch of gray clouds over me and after a week or 2 my perspective of my world changed.

2. No desire for weed or alcohol at all. There was a time that some good marijuana and a glass of natural wine gave me life, and do get me wrong it still does but i'm not itching for it as before. Microdosing is known to help addiction and I see why.

3. Way less intrusive thoughts. It really gave me control of my mind again. If you ever suffered from anxiety or depression you know it's like you're getting hijacked with thoughts and feelings. This really clears the air and allows you to change how you approach things.

4. I get to dig deeper into trauma and feelings that I had buried up. It was a lot easier to do somatic work on them and get bigger benefits from them. I am so happy that this medicine is being used in therapy settings.

5. My period changed in a good way. After starting my period got lined up with the full moon and it recalibrated my hormones so the little PMS I had is gone.

6. Less anxiety. I honestly give alot less fucks about things so I am way less self-conscious and not over thinking as much.

7. More connected to nature. To give you perspective…I don't kill bugs now in my house, I kindly escort them out. The birds are amazing, the lizards are amazing and all living things are just so beautiful. They all feel a part of me.

8. Deeper connections in my relationships. I am able to show up alot more emotionally available than I have in a really long time. I connect deeper with my community and don't feel alone.

9. My creativity has definitely flourished. I see it so much in how I find solutions to problems, I just see so many different perspectives. Resourcefulness is on 100!

10. Improved focus and cognition. I can focus way longer and alot easier particularly when doing things that I don't want to do. I can read for longer periods of time and can learn alot easier so studying has actually become fun. Yes, studying and reading are like things I make time for now FOR FUN.
